ABOUT

PROFILE

Born in 1986, I went independent at 22 and have been working as a leather specialist for 18 years.
After graduating from fashion school, I honed my skills at a sample factory, working on everything from wedding dresses, casual wear, to leather riders jackets.

Out of all the materials I’ve handled, I chose leather because it’s the most rewarding to sew. Simple as it sounds, that feeling remains the core of everything I do.

PHILOSOPHY

Approach

IMG_6283 2.JPG

In an era where overseas production is becoming the norm, I want to hold onto what makes Japanese craftsmanship special—the care, the precision, and the beauty—and share that value with the world.

When you place an order, I will speak with you directly to get a clear picture of your brand’s vision and the feel you’re going for. If any questions come up during production, I will always check in with you rather than making assumptions and moving ahead on my own.

Since I’m the one you speak with and the one who makes the piece, your vision is reflected directly in the final product—no middleman, no miscommunication.

Leather also behaves very differently from woven fabrics when it comes to pattern making. If you have any questions about specs or patterns, I’m happy to share what I’ve learned from experience.

LEATHER SEWING TANAKA offers sample making and small-batch production for leather garments. Specializing in riders jackets and other leather apparel, I create each piece with careful craftsmanship and reliable technique.
